On Monday, our class will be competing at the field day games. Every second grader will be wearing their NPES orange shirt or an orange shirt.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Thank you for all the beautiful flowers and delicious candies that the children gave me this week. They were so excited to offer the gifts of thoughtfulness. I was very appreciative of all the beautiful gifts.
Butterfly Garden: Our second grade class bid farewell to our butterflies as they flutter into the wild. They enjoyed the celebration by blowing bubbles into the sky and cooling off with tasty ice pops. It was a culmination and bittersweet moment for all the students as our school comes to an end.
Math
This week in math we will be reviewing many of the concepts learned throughout the year. Some of the math stations will include: money, fractions, time, word problems, and fact fluency. There will no math homework for the remainder of the year.
Writing
Students will spend the week working on their last writing assignment. They choose a topic this week and are writing an informational book about it.
Reading
Students will continue to work on and review their nonfiction skills next week during reading.
There will be no reading/language arts homework for the remainder of the year.
Last week of school
We are very close to the last week of school. This will be a 4 day week for the students.
Each day we will have a different theme as we wrap up our year with some fun activities.

Memory Day
We will reflect on our time in 2nd grade.
This will also be our yearbook signing day. If your child has a yearbook they can bring it in on Monday to get it signed. I will provide autograph papers for those students who do not have yearbooks, so they can also participate.
Our end of the year party is Monday afternoon.

Students may bring in 1 or 2 board games to share and play with the glass. We will also have some other games we will play as a class to share what we have learned in 2nd grade.
Please label all board games with your child’s name to avoid losing them.

Puzzle Day
Students may bring in 1 or 2 puzzles to share and solve with the class. We will also have some other puzzles to solve that show what we have learned in 2nd grade.

Thursday- May 26, 2016 – Last Day of School!
Movie Day
We will watch movies, eat snacks and relax away the last day of school.
No backpacks on the last day of school!

- May 16th This Monday- Field Day will be from 9:00am - 2:00pm. Please wear the orange field day shirts. Bring an extra shirt because the children might get wet from the water games!
- BEFORE coming to school on Monday, please, take care of the following--
- Eat breakfast- bring snack today!
- Put sunscreen on your child. They don’t want to start the summer fried to a crisp! (Students should not bring in sunscreen.)
- Pack a water bottle, an old HAND towel, a change of socks/shoes/t-shirt due to water events, and a hat or visor if your child wants one. Shorts or capris, tennis shoes/closed toed shoes, and socks are best for field day. Do not wear sandals or flip-flops! Please label everything with your child’s name on it.
- Note: Lunch will be at 11:30am for approximately 30 minutes. Students will continue to compete outdoors after lunch. Awards will be given out after that time at the soccer field.
- Students will receive snacks and Gatorade during field days.
